Basketball Recap: Roane County Comes Up Short

After flying high against Clay County last Wednesday, Roane County came back down to earth. The Roane County Raiders took a 42-25 bruising from the Charleston Catholic Irish on Tuesday. The game marked the Raiders' lowest-scoring matchup so far this season.

Anna Tolley was Roane County's leading scorer, having posted seven points. Josie Cox held things down on the boards with five rebounds.

Charleston Catholic got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Nora Aliff out in front who went 5 of 9 en route to 11 points. Mary Rushworth was another key player, putting up eight points.

Roane County has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 11-6 record this season. As for Charleston Catholic, they pushed their record up to 11-3 with the win, which was their fifth straight on the road.

Roane County has already played their next game, a 51-31 victory against Braxton County on the 5th. As for Charleston Catholic, they will face off against Tucker County at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Tucker County will roll in looking for their seventh straight win, something Charleston Catholic surely won't give up without a fight.
