Baseball Recap: Le Roy's Win on Tuesday Extends Winning Streak to Five

Le Roy won against Geneseo on Monday with nine runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Tuesday. The Oatkan Knights put the hurt on the Pavilion Golden Gophers with a sharp 9-2 win. The Oatkan Knights might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four contests by six runs or more this season.

Alex Spezzano made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out nine batters over 5.2 innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off two hits (and only one walk). He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Jake Higgins was excellent, going 1-for-4 with one home run and three RBI. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Peter Clark, who went 1-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base.

The victory (which was Le Roy's fifth in a row) raised their record to 6-1. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.2 runs on average over those games. As for Pavilion, their loss dropped their record down to 5-2.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Le Roy will square off against Perry at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Pavilion, they will take on Warsaw at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Golden Gophers are facing the Tigers at the right time seeing as the Tigers are stuck on a five-game losing streak.
