Baseball Recap: Carrizo Springs' Losing Streak Snapped at Four Games

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Pleasanton, Carrizo Springs was happy to have turned things around on Tuesday. They walked away with a 6-2 victory over the Devine Warhorses. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Wildcats as it put an end to their four-game losing streak.

Mathan Cruz made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched seven innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off six hits. He has been consistent for a while: he hasn't given up more than two walks in ten consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Dereck Martinez, who scored two runs while going 3-for-3. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. James Botello also deserves some recognition as he hit his first triple of the season.

Carrizo Springs' record now sits at 13-6. As for Devine, they have been struggling recently as they've lost nine of their last 11 matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-12-1 record this season.

Carrizo Springs is taking a road trip to face off against Somerset at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Devine, they will welcome Pleasanton at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Eagles will roll in looking for their 14th straight victory, something the Warhorses surely won't give up without a fight.
