Basketball Recap: Vance County Makes It 16 in a Row at Home

Vance County won the last time they faced Durham School of the Arts and things went their way on Friday too. The Vance County Vipers strolled past the Durham School of the Arts Bulldogs with points to spare, taking the game 38-19. The Vipers pushed the score to 33-11 by the end of the third, a deficit the Bulldogs cut but never quite recovered from.

Vance County's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Da'Shunti Hester, who posted ten points. Queenie Whittler was another key player, putting up nine points.

Despite the defeat, Durham School of the Arts had strong showings from Faith Yon, who went 5 for 12 on her way to 13 points and five steals, and Jayden Bonner, who earned a point and three steals. Yon has been hot for a while, having posted two or more steals the last 20 times she's played. Themis Brown also deserves some recognition as she posted her first assist of the season.

Those victories came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 27.1 points per game.
