After a string of three wins, the Mount Miguel Matadors's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They suffered a tough 59-35 defeat at the hands of Monte Vista. Mount Miguel has struggled against Monte Vista recently, as their game on Friday was their third consecutive lost matchup.
Despite the loss, Mount Miguel saw an underclassman step up: Jasen Hughes scored nine points along with eight rebounds. Thaddeus Boudreaux was another key contributor, scoring ten points.
Mount Miguel's defeat dropped their record down to 12-7. As for Monte Vista, they have been performing well recently as they've won eight of their last ten matches, which provided a nice bump to their 13-7 record this season.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Mount Miguel will challenge Santana at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Santana is coming into the contest on a four-game losing streak. As for Monte Vista, they will head out on the road to take on El Cajon Valley at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
