Basketball Recap: Marion Warriors vs. Classical Saints

Marion and Classical squared off in some playoff action on Friday, but Marion had to settle for second. They fell 43-35 to the Classical Saints. The Warriors were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Saints earlier this season, when they won 55-54.

Loss or not, Marion got some senior leadership from Kenna Wesner and Taryn Kraus. Wesner posted 18 points in addition to eight rebounds and four steals, while Kraus earned ten points.

Classical's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Maggie Neill led the charge by dropping a double-double with 11 points and ten boards. What's more, Neill also posted an 80% shooting accuracy, which is the highest she's achieved since back in February of 2024. Another player making a difference was Nevi Wilkey, who dropped a double-double with ten points and 11 rebounds.

Marion's defeat dropped their record down to 13-8. As for Classical, their record is now 12-9.

Marion does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Classical, they will take on Bennington at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Bennington will roll in looking for their fifth straight victory, something Classical surely won't give up without a fight.
