Basketball Recap: Robstown Cottonpickers vs. Geneva Eagles
Robstown was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They were outmatched by the Geneva Eagles and fell 58-27. While losing is never fun, the Cottonpickers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 757th, while the Eagles are ranked 329th).
Geneva had a senior duo take command as Maegan Riebel went 9 of 13 on her way to 19 points and four steals and Kyra Petty posted 17 points in addition to five boards and five steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Grace Detterick, who had six points and five rebounds.
Robstown now has a losing record at 9-10. As for Geneva, their win was their seventh straight at home, which pushed their record up to 17-4.
Robstown will head out to face off against Zapata at 1:30 p.m. on Friday. Robstown is facing Zapata at the right time seeing as Zapata is stuck on a four-game losing streak. As for Geneva, they will welcome John Paul II at 3:00 p.m. on Friday. Geneva is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 61.8 points per game this season.
