Football Recap: Tanque Verde Comes Up Short at Home Against Phoenix Christian + How To Watch

Tanque Verde unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. They took a blow against the Phoenix Christian Cougars on Friday, falling 41-7. The Hawks were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 28-7.

Rocco Haggard threw for 68 yards and one touchdown. Aiden Cooper was his top target, picking up 36 receiving yards and one score.

Phoenix Christian's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Aaron Whitten led the charge by rushing for 113 yards and a pair of TDs on only 15 carries. Those 113 rushing yards gave Whitten a new career-high. Z'Yeon Rondan was another key player, rushing for 144 yards and one touchdown.
