Volleyball Recap: Southwest Roughriders vs. Overton Eagles
Southwest put another one in the bag on Thursday to keep their perfect season alive. They walked away with a 2-0 win over the Overton Eagles. The Roughriders have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Eagles, too.
While Southwest won a shutout, things came down to the wire in the first set they played. The match finished with set scores of 25-22, 25-21.
Several Eagles players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Kyla Elfgren, who had seven digs and 16 assists. Elfgren is on a roll when it comes to assists, as she's now posted 14 or more in the last 21 games she's played dating back to last season. The team also got some help courtesy of Chloe Svarvari, who had ten digs.
Southwest pushed their record up to 20-0 with the victory, which was their 14th straight at home dating back to last season. As for Overton, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 17-4.
Coincidentally, both will both be playing Alma the next time they take the court. Overton will head out to face Alma at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, while Southwest will play them later in the day, at 5:00 p.m.
