Baseball Recap: Southwest Comes Up Short

After flying high against South San Antonio last Thursday, Southwest came back down to earth. The Dragons fell just short of the MacArthur Brahmas by a score of 5-4 on Saturday. The Dragons were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Brahmas earlier this season, when they won 4-1.

Julleus Castillo was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring a run while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Romeo Castillo, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one double and one RBI.

The loss snapped Southwest's winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 14-5-1 record. As for MacArthur, the victory was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 14-6.

Southwest and MacArthur should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings. The Dragons will face off against Harlandale at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday with a big rank advantage (237 vs. 1071). Meanwhile, MacArthur (ranked 231st) will meet Jay (ranked 892nd) at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
