Basketball Game Preview: Garden City Buffaloes vs. Derby Panthers

The Garden City Buffaloes will head out on the road to challenge the Derby Panthers at 5:00 p.m. on Saturday.

Last Tuesday, Garden City ended up a good deal behind Liberal and lost 49-32. The Buffaloes have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Meanwhile, it's playoff time, and Derby had no trouble coming through when it counted. They took their contest on Wednesday with ease, bagging an 82-10 victory over North. The Panthers' offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

Garden City better keep an eye on Macayla Askew. She was instrumental in Derby's win, dropping a double-double with 15 points and 17 rebounds. Those 17 boards gave Askew a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Maya Harris, who shot 63% from the field en route to 10 points and three steals.

Derby smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 24 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive boards they've managed all season.

Garden City's defeat dropped their record down to 9-7. As for Derby, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 18-3.
