Volleyball Game Preview: Plainfield South Cougars vs. Yorkville Foxes

The Plainfield South Cougars will face off against the Yorkville Foxes at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Plainfield South took a loss when they played away from home on Tuesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Thursday. They came out on top against Plainfield East by a score of 2-0.

The win didn't come easy: Plainfield East scored at least 20 points in every set. The final score came out to 25-21, 25-20.

Meanwhile, Yorkville played in-conference for the first time on Thursday and got just the result they were looking for. They won by a set and slipped past Plainfield Central 2-1. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Foxes have posted since April 3rd.

The match was a true back-and-forth as no team won consecutive sets, but in the end it was Yorkville who won the one that mattered. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-23, 24-26, 27-25.

Yorkville's win ended a six-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 8-20. As for Plainfield South, they are on a roll lately: they've won 12 of their last 16 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-10 record this season.

Plainfield South came out on top in a nail-biter against Yorkville in their previous meeting back in May of 2024, sneaking past 2-1. Will the Cougars repeat their success, or do the Foxes have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
