The Dover Longhorns will head out on the road to face off against the Lookeba-Sickles Panthers at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Dover has four straight wins, Lookeba-Sickles has three straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Dover can't be too worried about heading out to take on Lookeba-Sickles: they just beat Pioneer-Pleasant Vale at home, who had been dominant on their own field up to that point. The Longhorns came out on top against the Mustangs by a score of 10-5 on Tuesday. Dover's victory was all the more impressive since the Mustangs were averaging only 2.35 runs allowed on the season.

Casen Buck and Bryce Cockayne made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, Buck pitched 1.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Meanwhile, Cockayne struck out eight batters over 5.2 innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off six hits. Buck also tossed no walks, which is notable because Dover is 3-1 when he allows at most one walk, but 7-8 otherwise. At bat, Buck went 2-for-4 with one triple and one run, while Cockayne scored a run while going 2-for-4. That's the most hits Buck has posted over his last seven matches.
In other batting news, Emanuel Barcenas was incredible, going 1-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high.
Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Lookeba-Sickles challenged Fletcher on Thursday. The Panthers lost 11-1 to the Wildcats.
Lookeba-Sickles saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Nate Morris, who scored a run while going 1-for-2.
Lookeba-Sickles' defeat dropped their record down to 6-12. As for Dover, they now have a winning record of 10-9.
Lookeba-Sickles' pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Dover has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .453. It's a different story for Lookeba-Sickles, though, as they've only averaged .348. Will they be able to contain Dover's hitters?
Dover suffered a grim 21-1 defeat to Lookeba-Sickles when the teams last played back in April of 2023. Can the Longhorns avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
