Softball Recap: Barrow Arts and Sciences Academy vs. Commerce Tigers
Barrow Arts and Sciences Academy had lost five straight at home, but on Tuesday they dropped down to 2-15 to make it six. They came up short against the Commerce Tigers, falling 18-6. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against Commerce this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 16-6 on September 4th.
Cali Bernat made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and went a perfect 3-for-3 with four RBI and one double. Another player making a difference was Olivia Jutras, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.
As for Commerce, their win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 6-13. Their hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
On Commerce's side, Camden Thomason was incredible, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI, one triple, and one run. The team also got some help courtesy of Alexis Miller, who went 1-for-2 with one triple, two RBI, and one run.
We've got plenty of inter-region action coming up soon. Barrow Arts and Sciences Academy will challenge rival Providence Christian Academy at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Commerce is set to square off against their familiar foe Oglethorpe County at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
