Softball Recap: Selinsgrove Takes a Loss

Shikellamy hit Selinsgrove with a five-run first inning on Tuesday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Seals fell 13-8 to the Braves. The Seals were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Braves apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in May of 2024.

Peyton Yerger led a balanced group of hitters, going 1-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Molly Hess, who went 1-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.

This is the second loss in a row for Selinsgrove and nudges their season record down to 4-6. As for Shikellamy, their record is now an identical 4-6.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Selinsgrove will challenge Danville at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Ironmen have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 8.23 runs per game on average), something the Seals will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Shikellamy, they will take on Central Mountain at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Wildcats will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something the Braves surely won't give up without a fight.
