Basketball Recap: Dolores Bears vs. Nucla Mustangs
Dolores was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They were dealt a 63-23 loss at the hands of the Nucla Mustangs. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Mustangs this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 48-7 back in January.
When it comes to explaining why Dolores lost, don't look at Taylor Erautt. Despite the final result, she posted 17 points. That was a full 73.9% of Dolores' points, marking the fourth time in a row Erautt has scored more than a third of the team's points.
Nucla found their leader in sophomore Lantry Galley, who dropped a double-double with 23 points and ten rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Galley has scored all season. Kendra McCluer was another key player, putting up 16 points and three steals.
Dolores' defeat dropped their record down to 7-15. As for Nucla, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won ten of their last 11 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 17-3 record this season.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Dolores will square off against Mancos at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Nucla, they will face off against Plateau Valley at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday.
