Baseball Recap: Heritage Gets the Win

Heritage's game on Thursday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Friday. They skirted past Anna 4-3. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 4-3 on Friday.

Karson Smith spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered three earned runs on six hits.

On the hitting side, Nolan Swyers was excellent, going 3-for-4 with one triple, one run, and one double. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Luke Dettling, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one stolen base and one run.

The win got Heritage back to even at 2-2-1. As for Anna, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-4-1.

Coming up, Anna will be taking part in a tournament against Plano East at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Heritage will be paying especially close attention to Anna's matchup: after Anna faces off against Seagoville, they'll take on Heritage again at 3:00 p.m.
