South Iredell is 0-10 against Lake Norman since March of 2019 but things could change on Tuesday. The Vikings will square off against the Wildcats at 6:00 p.m. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
South Iredell's pitching crew heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. They were the clear victors by a 15-0 margin over West Cabarrus. The Vikings haven't had any issues with the Wolverines recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive win against them.
Addison Trego made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out six over four innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. Those three runs gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, South Iredell let Addi Myers and Carlee Haines run wild. Myers scored three runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-3, while Haines scored two runs while going 2-for-2. The dominant performance also gave Haines a new career-high in RBI (three). Caroline Constable was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing three bases while going 2-for-4.
Meanwhile, Lake Norman gave up the first runs on Monday, but they didn't let that get them down. They walked away with an 8-4 victory over Central Cabarrus.
Like South Iredell, Lake Norman also got a great game from a two-way player: Vivian Billard. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out ten batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off eight hits. Billard was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-5 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one double.
In other batting news, Olivia Wolf was excellent, scoring a run and stealing a base while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Evelyn Adams, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base.
Lake Norman has been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 9-8 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.9 runs on average over those games. As for South Iredell, they now have a winning record of 9-8.
South Iredell couldn't quite finish off Lake Norman when the teams last played back in March and fell 10-8. Can the Vikings avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
