Recap: Cheylin Cougars vs. Golden Plains Bulldogs
The Cheylin Cougars put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their undefeated season alive. They breezed by Golden Plains at home to the tune of 72-6. Fans of Cheylin have seen this all before: every one of the games they've played this season ended as a blowout.
Cheylin's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Logan McCarty, who rushed for 125 yards and a touchdown on only six carries, and also threw for 125 yards and four touchdowns on only ten passes. McCarty was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 51 yards. Pablo Bermudez was another key contributor, gaining 143 total yards and five touchdowns.
Cheylin's victory was their seventh straight at home (dating back to last season), bumping their overall record up to 8-0. That said, the team wasn't facing the toughest opposition over that stretch, as it included 0-7 Western Plains/Healy and 2-7 Triplains/Brewster (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 41.2% over those games). As for Golden Plains, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-6.
Cheylin does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Golden Plains is also done with their season.
