Recap: Sylvan-Lucas Mustangs vs. Smith Center Redmen
This season hasn't been kind to the Sylvan-Lucas Mustangs, who are still winless after their fourth matchup. They suffered a rough 63-43 defeat at the hands of Smith Center on Saturday. Sylvan-Lucas was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Smith Center apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in December of 2022.
Smith Center can attribute much of their success to Daveyon Orr, who scored 18 points along with six rebounds. Orr set a new season high mark in points with 18. Tegan McKenzie was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with 12 rebounds and five blocks.
Sylvan-Lucas' loss dropped their record down to 0-4. As for Smith Center, their win bumped their record up to 1-3.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Sylvan-Lucas and Lincoln will face off without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Lincoln is out to stop a three-game streak of losses at home. As for Smith Center, they will head out on the road to face off against Washington County at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
