Preview: Dimmitt Bobcats vs. Brownfield Cubs
The Dimmitt Bobcats will head out on the road to take on the Brownfield Cubs at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Dimmitt focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 19 on Tuesday.
Last Tuesday, Dimmitt came up short against Denver City and fell 45-37.
Despite their defeat, Dimmitt saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Mario Lopez, who scored six points along with four blocks, was perhaps the best of all. The team also got some help courtesy of Tony Salazar, who scored 12 points along with six rebounds.
Meanwhile, Brownfield stacked an eighth blowout win onto their ever-increasing hoard on Friday. They put the hurt on Denver City with a sharp 67-47 victory. The win was nothing new for Brownfield as they're now sitting on six straight.
Dimmitt has been struggling recently, as they've lost three of their last four matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-15 record this season. As for Brownfield, their win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 18-6.
Dimmitt beat Brownfield 53-43 in their previous meeting back in January of 2023. The rematch might be a little tougher for Dimmitt since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
