Baseball Recap: Pine River-Backus Drops Season-High Score on Kelliher/Northome

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Pine River-Backus). They blew past the Kelliher/Northome Mustangs 25-6 on Thursday. The Tigers have beaten the Mustangs the last seven times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Mustangs has come to flipping the script.

Eli Abraham made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching three innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. Abraham was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with six RBI and one double. Those three hits gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, Pine River-Backus got a massive performance out of Grady Mongan, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with five stolen bases and three runs. The Tigers are undefeated when Mongan posts two or more runs, but 3-6 otherwise. Ozzy Switajewski also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.

Pine River-Backus always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .619. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in three consecutive games.

The win got Pine River-Backus back to even at 6-6. As for Kelliher/Northome, they dropped their record down to 0-6 with the defeat, which was their 12th straight on the road dating back to last season.
