Softball Game Preview: Sprague Olympians vs. North Salem Vikings

Sprague has gone a perfect 10-0 against North Salem recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Monday. The Olympians will welcome the Vikings at 5:00 p.m. Sprague will be strutting in after a win while North Salem will be coming in after a loss.

Sprague will bounce into Monday's contest after beating South Salem, who they had gone 2-7 against in their nine prior meetings. The Olympians were the clear victors by a 16-3 margin over the Saxons on Friday. The high-scoring performance was a welcome turnaround for the Olympians' hitters, who had struggled in the games prior.

The team relied heavily on Kaylee Lundeen, who went 3-for-5 with three runs, three RBI, and two doubles. Those two doubles gave her a new career-high. Natalie Barr was another key player, going 1-for-3 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Sprague kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. They are 2-1 when they post 11 or more hits.

Meanwhile, after soaring to 15 runs the game before, North Salem was a bit more limited in their matchup on Friday. They came up short against Willamette, falling 16-1. The Vikings have struggled against the Wolverines recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost meeting.

North Salem's defeat dropped their record down to 3-13. As for Sprague, their victory bumped their record up to 5-13.

Sprague took their win against North Salem in their previous meeting back in May of 2024 by a conclusive 17-1 score. Do the Olympians have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Vikings turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
