Softball Recap: Childersburg Comes Up Short

Childersburg was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They came up short against the Central of Clay County Volunteers, falling 14-6. If the Tigers were looking for revenge after losing 9-0 to the Volunteers when the teams met back in April of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Madison Brooks was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-4. Lexie Smith was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one double, and one RBI.

Childersburg's defeat dropped their record down to 8-10. As for Central of Clay County, their win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 6-6.

Coincidentally, Childersburg and Central of Clay County will both be playing Sylacauga the next time they take the field. Central of Clay County will host Sylacauga at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday, while Childersburg will head out to face them at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
