Softball Recap: Trinity Christian Academy Comes Up Short

If Trinity Christian Academy was riding high fresh off their 24-1 takedown of Pine Ridge last Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Eagles fell just short of the Peniel Baptist Academy Warriors by a score of 8-6 on Thursday. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Warriors this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 14-4 back in March.

Kay'La Jones made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and scored two runs and stole two bases while going 3-for-4. She has been hot, having posted at least one stolen base the last five times she's played. Another player making a difference was Kaitlyn Manzano, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.

Trinity Christian Academy's loss dropped their record down to 9-4. As for Peniel Baptist Academy, they have been performing well recently as they've won ten of their last 12 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-3 record this season.

Trinity Christian Academy will head out on the road to face off against Seabreeze at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The Sandcrabs have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 8.07 runs per game on average), something the Eagles will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Peniel Baptist Academy, they will welcome First Coast Christian at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
