Mercedes came tearing into Tuesday's match with five straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 5 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 6-5 W against the Lopez Lobos. Six seems to be a good number for the Tigers as the team scooped up a victory with the same number of runs in their previous game.

Abigail Trevi?o spent all nine innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered five earned runs on 11 hits and racked up seven Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Ashley De Leon, who went 2-for-5 with one home run and two RBI. Rhianna Sierra was another key player, scoring a run while going 3-for-5.

De Leon wasn't the only one making solid contact: Mercedes kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in three consecutive contests.

Mercedes pushed their record up to 16-6 with the win, which was their third straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.7 runs over those games. As for Lopez, their loss dropped their record down to 13-9.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Mercedes is set to challenge their familiar foe Pace at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Lopez will face off against rival Donna at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday.
