Softball Recap: Vernonia Comes Up Short

Vernonia was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their ninth straight loss. They lost 17-2 to the Santiam Wolverines. The Loggers were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Wolverines apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in May of 2019.

Chloe Schumburg was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-2 with one triple and two RBI. That triple marked the first that she has hit this season. The team also got some help courtesy of JoLee Graham, who earned one run and two stolen bases.

Vernonia's loss dropped their record down to 3-16. As for Santiam, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-10 record this season.

Vernonia will square off against Valley Catholic at 3:30 p.m. on Monday. Santiam has already played their next game (against Mohawk), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
