Basketball Recap: San Jacinto Now 4-1 over Last Five Games

It was a proper cat-fight when San Jacinto duked it out withValley Center on Saturday. The San Jacinto Tigers came out on top against the Valley Center Jaguars by a score of 56-48.

Josiah Mejia continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, putting up 15 points in addition to eight assists and seven boards. He is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last 17 games he's played dating back to last season. Another player making a difference was Omar Garcia, who made all 5 shots he took to post 13 points.

They weren't the only one working in the assists department: San Jacinto was working as a unit and finished the game with 15 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Valley Center only posted five assists.

Despite the loss, Valley Center still got an impressive performance from Lincoln Zetmeir, who went 11 of 21 on his way to 33 points and six rebounds. That was a full 68.8% of Valley Center's points, marking the 14th time in a row he's posted more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jonathan Teter, who put up nine points.

San Jacinto is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matches, which provided a massive bump to their 5-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 60.2 points per game. As for Valley Center, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-11.

San Jacinto didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 59-43 defeat against Laguna Beach on the 30th. As for Valley Center, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 57-47 win against Yucca Valley on the 30th.
