Baseball Recap: Centennial Starts Season with Victory Against Cajon

Centennial gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Monday. They won by a run and slipped past the Cajon Cowboys 10-9. The Huskies haven't had any issues with the Cowboys recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.

Ian Calvillo looked comfortable as he tossed four innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off three hits. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (three).

On the hitting side, Ethan Miller and Jaden Walk-Green did most of the damage at the plate: Miller scored two runs while going 2-for-2, while Walk-Green went 1-for-2 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. That's the most runs Walk-Green has posted since back in February of 2024. Another player making a difference was Mason Lear, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-4.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Centennial will be taking part in a tournament against Summit at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Cajon, they will take on Paloma Valley in a tournament on Tuesday.
