Football Recap: Clayton Piles Up the Points Against Southern Nash + How To Watch

Everything came up roses for the Clayton Comets against the Southern Nash Firebirds on Friday as the squad secured a 49-14 win. The final result isn't all that surprising considering the Comets' considerable advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina football rankings (they are ranked 26th, while the Firebirds are ranked 85th).

Clayton had a senior duo take command as Aiden Smalls rushed for 152 yards and three TDs on only 11 carries and Noah Smith rushed for 98 yards and three touchdowns on only ten carries.

Despite the loss, Southern Nash still got an impressive performance from Jaden Hartsfield, who rushed for 140 yards and one score, and also caught one touchdown.

Clayton's victory was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 2-0. Those home wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 10.5 points on average over those games. As for Southern Nash, their loss dropped their record down to 1-1.

Looking ahead, Clayton will challenge Hoggard at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams might be coming in a bit winded given these two teams combined for 822 yards in their previous games. As for Southern Nash, they will face off against James Kenan at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
