After having lost a blowout in their previous game against King Abdullah Academy, Wakefield School was happy to have turned things around on Friday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 63-60 win over the Randolph-Macon Academy Yellow Jackets. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Fighting Owls have posted since February 8, 2024.
Despite the loss, Randolph-Macon Academy saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Nolan Kirabo shot 5-for-9 from long range and dropped a double-double with 25 points and ten rebounds. Kirabo also set a new season-high mark in three-point shooting accuracy with 56%. Another player making a difference was David Kayeye, who dropped a double-double with 12 points and ten boards.
Wakefield School pushed their record up to 13-5 with the win, which was their third straight at home. As for Randolph-Macon Academy, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 16-3.
