Basketball Recap: Roseville Takes a Tough Playoff Loss

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Roseville can now relate to. They fell 70-62 to the Burbank Titans on Friday. The loss continues a trend for the Tigers in their matchups with the Titans: they've now lost four in a row.

When it comes to explaining why Roseville lost, don't look at Oreste Yong. Despite the final result, he dropped a double-double with 17 points and 15 boards. Yong is also on a roll when it comes to shooting accuracy, as he's posted one of at least 50% in the last 11 games he's played. Tyler Ritter was another key player, putting up ten points along with eight rebounds and six assists.

Burbank had a senior duo take command as Michael Butcher almost dropped a double-double with 25 points and nine assists and Julian James-Jardines went 7-for-9 en route to 19 points in addition to five assists and five boards. As a matter of fact, that's the most points James-Jardines has scored all season. Another player making a difference was DJ Massey, who went 5-for-8 on his way to 10 points and three steals.

Roseville's defeat dropped their record down to 19-11. As for Burbank, the win (which was their seventh in a row) raised their record to 23-8.

Roseville does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Burbank, they will square off against El Capitan at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Burbank is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 64.2 points per game this season.
