Basketball Recap: Bakersfield Christian Proves Higher State Rank Is No Mistake

The third road game was the charm for Bakersfield Christian, as they earned their first away victory of the season. They took down the Oakland Tech Bulldogs 70-56 on Saturday. Given the Eagles' advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 181st, while the Bulldogs are ranked 380th) , the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Oakland Tech's defeat came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Brandon Woodards, who posted 12 points and three steals. Woodards is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in each of the last four games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Jasen Davis, who had 14 points.

Bakersfield Christian's win bumped their record up to 4-6. As for Oakland Tech, they now have a losing record of 3-4.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Bakersfield Christian will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Loyola at 12:30 p.m. on the 26th. As for Oakland Tech, they will be home for the holidays to greet Saint Mary's on Friday. That matchup will pit two of the most dominant s against one another: Davis and Christopher Baltrip.
