Basketball Game Preview: New Mexico Military Institute Colts vs. Estancia Bears

The New Mexico Military Institute Colts and the Estancia Bears will face off at 3:30 p.m. on Friday without much rest having both just played. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

New Mexico Military Institute saw some tournament action on Thursday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past Socorro 59-57. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Colts.

Meanwhile, Estancia's game on Thursday was all tied up 26-26 at the half, but luckily for them it didn't stay that way. They came out on top against Laguna Acoma by a score of 54-47.

New Mexico Military Institute better keep an eye on Justin Rubio. He was instrumental in Estancia's win, dropping a double-double on 26 points and 11 boards. With that strong performance, Rubio is now averaging an impressive 16.4 points per game. The team also got some help courtesy of Daniel Hernandez, who posted eight points and eight rebounds.

New Mexico Military Institute's victory was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 4-2. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 63.5 points per game. As for Estancia, their win bumped their record up to 2-3.

New Mexico Military Institute came up short against Estancia in their previous meeting back in December of 2014, falling 45-34. Can New Mexico Military Institute avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
