Basketball Recap: Hobbton's Losing Streak Snapped at Four Games

Hobbton hadn't done well against Princeton recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. The Hobbton Wildcats rang in the new year with a 62-49 win over the Princeton Bulldogs. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 55-44 back in December of 2024.

Hobbton's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Amir Tate, who posted 24 points. Another player making a difference was Richard Simpson, who put up 15 points.

When it comes to explaining why Princeton lost, don't look at Garrett Lane. Despite the final result, he had 17 points. Teo McPhatter was another key player, going 6 of 11 on his way to 17 points.

Hobbton moved to 4-6 with that win, which also ended their four-game losing streak. As for Princeton, their loss dropped their record down to 5-7.

Hobbton will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Rosewood at 7:30 p.m. on January 14th. As for Princeton, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 61-60 defeat against North Duplin on the 6th.
