Basketball Recap: Cristo Rey Tampa Find Success

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against St. Petersburg Catholic, Cristo Rey Tampa was happy to have turned things around on Wednesday. They came out on top against the Universal Academy Falcons by a score of 55-43.

It was another big night for Bryan Vargas, who shot 4-for-4 from downtown and dropped a double-double on 25 points and 11 rebounds. Abraham Casadiego was another key player, putting up 15 points and four steals.

Cristo Rey Tampa's win bumped their record up to 3-1. As for Universal Academy, they dropped their record down to 0-8 with the defeat, which was their 12th straight on the road dating back to last season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Cristo Rey Tampa won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Florida College Academy at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Universal Academy, they will face off against Cambridge Christian at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
