League recap: Plainfield Central win leads to rise in state rank

Southwest Prairie recap Oct. 17, 2012

Plainfield Central moved up to 138 from 176 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in Southwest Prairie. The Wildcats were able to make the jump by beating Plainfield East 28-0.

Oswego extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating Plainfield South, 52-7. The victory was the sixth in a row for the Panthers.

Oswego's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Panthers feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Brett Wainwright has thrown for 639 yards and 10 touchdowns this season, while Jack Kwiatkowski has 18 catches for 391 yards. Mickeel Stewart leads the league in rushing with 877 yards.

A big matchup in Southwest Prairie this week will be when Oswego takes on Plainfield Central. Brian Cooney's team is currently in first, while John Jackson's team is in third.

The top two defenses in the league will face off this season when the Panthers take on the Wildcats. Oswego has allowed 125 points this season, while Plainfield Central has given up 133. The Panthers allowed 7 points last week as they beat the Cougars.
