Basketball Recap: Johnson County Comes Up Short

Johnson County was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their third straight loss. 2025 welcomed they with a 77-52 loss courtesy of the Elizabethton Fighting Cyclones. While losing is never fun, the Longhorns can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Tennessee basketball rankings (they are ranked 355th, while the Fighting Cyclones are ranked 133rd).

Johnson County's defeat dropped their record down to 1-8. As for Elizabethton, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 11-4 record this season.

Johnson County will take on Chilhowie at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Elizabethton, they will square off against Sullivan East at 8:00 p.m. on Friday.
