Baseball Game Preview: Salisbury Township Falcons vs. Notre Dame-Green Pond Crusaders

Salisbury Township is 2-7 against Notre Dame-Green Pond since April of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Wednesday. The Falcons will square off against the Crusaders at 4:00 p.m. Notre Dame-Green Pond took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Salisbury Township, who comes in off a win.

Salisbury Township took a loss when they played away from home on Monday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Thursday. They came out on top against Palmerton by a score of 8-4. The victory continues a trend for the Falcons in their matchups with the Blue Bombers: they've now won three in a row.

The team relied heavily on Garrett Leiner, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases and two RBI. Those two RBI gave him a new career-high. Markus Jones was another key player, going 1-for-4 with three RBI, one run, and one double.

Meanwhile, after soaring to ten runs the game before, Notre Dame-Green Pond was a bit more limited in their contest on Wednesday. They fell just short of Pen Argyl by a score of 3-2.

Jason Frederick made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 3-for-3 with two doubles. The team also got some help courtesy of Clemente Cintron, who went 1-for-4 with two stolen bases and one run.

Notre Dame-Green Pond has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-6 record this season. As for Salisbury Township, their win bumped their record up to 9-3.

Both Salisbury Township and Notre Dame-Green Pond just can't seem to miss. The Falcons have been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 10.2 hits per game. However, it's not like Notre Dame-Green Pond struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 5.6 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.

Salisbury Township came out on top in a nail-biter against Notre Dame-Green Pond when the teams last played back in April of 2024, sneaking past 8-7. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Falcons since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
