With a playoff win on the line, Southwest rose to the challenge on Saturday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Banks County Leopards 79-41. The Patriots have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won ten matches by 21 points or more this season.
Southwest got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Chase Dupree out in front who shot 5-for-7 from deep and dropped a double-double with 27 points and 15 boards. What's more, Dupree also posted a 75% field goal percentage, which is the highest he's achieved since back in January of 2024. C.J. Howard was another key player, going 6-for-11 from beyond the arc to rack up 22 points and seven assists.
Southwest was working as a unit and finished the game with 19 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Banks County only eight assists.
Despite the loss, Banks County still got an impressive performance from Kolby Watson, who went 9-for-18 en route to 23 points and six rebounds. Watson has been hot, having posted 17 or more points the last six times he's played. Diego Gonzalez also deserves some recognition as he grabbed his first steal of the season.
Southwest has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 16 of their last 17 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 25-2 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 69.3 points over those games. Banks County's loss dropped their record down to 16-12.
Southwest wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 65-52 victory against Temple on the 26th. Banks County does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
