Baseball Game Preview: California Condors vs. Segerstrom Jaguars

The California Condors will square off against the Segerstrom Jaguars at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (California 3.5, Segerstrom 3.2) so any runs scored will be well earned.

Segerstrom will be up against a hot California squad: the team just extended their winning streak to three. California came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 2-1 W against Kennedy. While the Condors didn't have the best season last year (they finished 11-17), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

Ethan Martinez looked comfortable as he pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. That's the fewest hits he has allowed since back in April of 2024.

At the plate, California's win was truly a team effort as five different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Efren Magallanes, who went 2-for-3 with one RBI.

Meanwhile, Segerstrom had just enough and edged out Oxford Academy 2-1 on Thursday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Jaguars.

Marcos Valeriano looked comfortable as he tossed four innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.

Segerstrom's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 7-5. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for California, their record is now 10-3.

California skirted past Segerstrom 3-2 in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. Does California have another victory up their sleeve, or will Segerstrom turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
