Basketball Recap: St. Anthony Takes a Loss

After flying high against University Lake/Trinity Academy last Thursday, St. Anthony came back down to earth. The St. Anthony Roman Legion took a 47-42 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Cristo Rey Trailblazers. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Roman Legion this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 64-49 back in December of 2024.

Despite the loss, St. Anthony still got an impressive performance from Anthony Ruvalcaba, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 21 boards. Ruvalcaba has been hot, having posted eight or more rebounds the last six times he's played. Another player making a difference was Nelson Escudero, who posted six points and five boards.

St. Anthony has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-11 record this season. As for Cristo Rey, their record now sits at 2-6.

St. Anthony has already played their next match, a 62-38 win against Eastbrook Academy on the 6th. Cristo Rey does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
