Softball Preview: Fernley Vaqueros vs. Spring Creek Spartans        
        
		
            
 Fernley is 9-1 against Spring Creek since April of 2019, and they'll have a chance to extend that success  on Friday. The Fernley Vaqueros will stay at home for another  game and welcome the Spring Creek Spartans at 4:00  p.m. Fernley is strutting in with some hitting muscle, as they've averaged 7.7  runs per game  this season.
 In Saturday's  second game, while Fernley put up some  runs, the same  can't be said for Dayton. Fernley walked away with  a   4-0  win over Dayton.
 The result came thanks to  Emma Masters's shutout, as she gave up just one  hit.
 On the hitting side,  the team  relied heavily on  Hunter Lyle, who  went 1-for-3 with a  triple, a  run,  and  an  RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of  Sara Moffett, who  scored a  run and  stole a base while going 1-for-3.
 Meanwhile, Spring Creek was not able to break out of their rough patch  in Saturday's  second game as the team picked up their third straight  loss. They might be feeling deja-vu: they lost  9-6 to Lowry, which was the same score (and result) they got the week prior.
  Mackenzie Morfin made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and  fired off two  home runs and three  RBI while going 2-for-4.  Ashlynn Sorenson was another key contributor,  going 2-for-4 with two  runs, a  triple,  and a  double.
 Fernley's victory was  their third straight at home, which  pushed their record up to 13-7. As for Spring Creek, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-12.
 Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging  on Friday. Fernley hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season,  having  averaged 0.8  home runs per game. However, it's not like Spring Creek struggles in that department as   they've been averaging 0.5. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
 Fernley was able to grind out a solid  win over Spring Creek when the teams last played  back in May of 2023, winning  7-4. Will Fernley repeat their success,  or does  Spring Creek have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
