Softball Recap: Oley Valley Victorious

On Wednesday, it was close, but the Oley Valley Lynx sidestepped the York Suburban Trojans for an 8-6 win. That's two games straight that the Lynx have won by exactly two runs.

Taylor Schlegel was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out 13 batters over seven innings while giving up six earned runs off nine hits. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in strikeouts. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing Two bases. while going 2-for-3.

In other batting news, Cheyenne Walsh was excellent, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances. That's the most runs she has posted since back in March of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Ava Walters, who went 3-for-4 with one stolen base and one RBI.

The victory made it two in a row for Oley Valley and bumps their season record up to a perfect 2-0. They've had to fight for that success though, as they only beat their opponents by an average of two runs across that stretch. As for York Suburban, their defeat was their first of the season and makes their record 3-1.

Coming up, Oley Valley will host Pequea Valley at 4:15 p.m. on Friday. As for York Suburban, they will venture away from home to challenge Spring Grove at 4:15 p.m. on Friday. York Suburban is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.8 runs per game this season.
