Baseball Recap: Goddard Comes Up Short

Goddard lost against Artesia on Thursday, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Rockets fell just short of the Bulldogs by a score of 3-2. The Rockets have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Lucien Betancur was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he tossed 4.2 innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off four hits. Goddard is 3-1 when Betancur allows one or fewer earned runs, but 8-12 otherwise.

At the plate, Goddard saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jose Porras, who went 2-for-3 with one run and one double.

Goddard's defeat dropped their record down to 11-13. As for Artesia, they pushed their record up to 19-6 with the win, which was their 12th straight at home dating back to last season.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: the Bulldogs beat Goddard by a score of 2-0 later that day.
