Baseball Recap: Austin-East Comes Up Short

Austin-East was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their 13th straight loss dating back to last season. They lost 12-2 to the Tellico Plains Bears. That's two games in a row now that the Roadrunners have lost by exactly ten runs.

Austin-East saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Chris Smith, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-2. Michael Gladney also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.

Austin-East's defeat dropped their record down to 0-6. As for Tellico Plains, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 4-2 record this season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Austin-East will welcome Tyner Academy at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. Tyner Academy has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 18 runs per game on average), something Austin-East will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Tellico Plains, they will look to defend their home field on Monday against Meigs County at 5:00 p.m.
