Baseball Recap: Salesian Wins Going Away Against Xavier

Salesian barely beat Xavier the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Eagles were the clear victors by a 10-3 margin over the Knights on Monday. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Eagles as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.

The team relied heavily on Kristopher Paredez, who went 3-for-4 with four RBI, one stolen base, and one double. Salesian is undefeated when Paredez posts three or more RBI, but 1-12 otherwise. Chibuzo Ononaji was another key player, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with three runs and one stolen base.

Salesian always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .514. The last time their OBP was this high was back in March.

Salesian picked up their first road win, bumping their record up to 4-12. As for Xavier, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-6.

Coming up, Salesian will head out to challenge St. Raymond Boys at 4:15 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Xavier, they will welcome Iona Prep at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Gaels will roll in looking for their eighth straight victory, something the Knights surely won't give up without a fight.
