Basketball Recap: Dynamic Duo of Abigail Cervantes and Sylvia Willis Lead ALA - Ironwood to Victory

ALA - Ironwood saw some tournament action on Friday. They walked away with a 49-41 win over the Empire Ravens.

ALA - Ironwood was led to victory by Sylvia Willis and Abigail Cervantes. Willis went 8-for-19 en route to 24 points and three steals, while Cervantes almost dropped a double-double with nine points and 17 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Ashlee Sandiford, who posted five points and four steals.

Despite the loss, Empire saw an underclassman step up: freshman Cazlynn Darling put up 18 points along with five boards and four steals. Those 18 points set a new season-high mark for Darling. Another player making a difference was Xalome Rosales, who scored five points in addition to six rebounds and five steals.

ALA - Ironwood's victory bumped their record up to 2-0. As for Empire, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-4.

ALA - Ironwood wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 56-40 defeat against Scottsdale Christian Academy on the 28th. As for Empire, they have also already played their next contest, a 43-36 win against San Tan Charter on the 29th.
