Winthrop College Prep Academy put their dominant defense on display in the team's sixth consecutive shutout on Tuesday. Their defense stepped up to hand the Lakewood Ranch Preparatory Academy Eagles a 19-0 shutout. Given the Spartans' advantage in MaxPreps' Florida football rankings (they are ranked 154th, while the Eagles are ranked 405th) , the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Winthrop College Prep Academy found their leader in freshman Maya Degreenia, who rushed for 45 yards and one touchdown, and also threw for 53 yards and a pair of TDs.

Winthrop College Prep Academy didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. In fact, those interceptions all came courtesy of defensive juggernaut Degreenia.

Winthrop College Prep Academy pushed their record up to 10-1 with the win, which was their sixth straight on the road. The road victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 0.0 points on average over those games. As for Lakewood Ranch Preparatory Academy, they are on a seven-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 0-7.
