Football Recap: Coleman Starts Season with Loss at Home

Coleman unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. They took a 40-26 bruising from the Fulton Pirates on Thursday. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Comets of the 66-40 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in October of 2022.

Coleman lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Dominic Lawrence, who picked up 74 receiving yards and one touchdown, and also rushed for 94 yards. Brayden Schrank was another key player, gaining 39 total yards and two touchdowns.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Coleman will host Holton at 3:30 p.m. on September 6. As for Fulton, they will be playing at home against Byron at 7:00 p.m. on September 5. The matchup will give the Pirates their first taste of in-conference action this season.
